THE OPEN DOOR FIDDLERS
Michael is the co-founder, alongside Kai Gronberg, and creative director of the Open Door Fiddlers, a youth student fiddle group based at Open Door Music School in Kitsilano. This dynamic group offers term classes for young fiddlers, focusing on building repertoire, honing technique, and developing performance skills. The Open Door Fiddlers also actively participate in outreach performances, bringing their fiddle music to special events. Every Friday evening, the class gathers to share their skills and foster a sense of community among young musicians. PRIVATE LESSONS
Michael is a dedicated and experienced music instructor, offering lessons in fiddle, violin, mandolin, and guitar. With a passion for teaching students of all ages and skill levels, he teaches both privately and out of Open Door Music School. Michael's teaching style encompasses a wide range of musical styles, including Celtic, Canadian folk, Classical, Bluegrass, and Old-time. He believes in tailoring each lesson to the individual needs of his students, taking a holistic approach that considers their goals, interests, and learning preferences. Whether in-person or through private lessons conducted over Zoom, Michael fosters a supportive and engaging learning environment, inspiring students to explore their musical potential and develop a strong foundation.
